Nach einer Karriere im Bankwesen und Trading tauschte die damals Vize-Präsidentin eines großen amerikanischen Broker-Hauses 1992 den stressigen Alltag an der Börse gegen das Familienleben und eine neue Idee.
Mit einem Irish Shop wollte Maura O’Leary-Hunter den unverkennbaren Geschmack ihrer ursprünglichen Heimat nach München bringen. After a career in Banking and trading on the American Stock Exchanges, in 1992 Maura O’Leary-Hunter who was Vice-President of a large American Broker House decided to turn her back on the stressful and unsociable hours worked on the stock markets, to prioritise family life, and to open an Irish shop in Munich.
Maura’s goal was to bring a taste of her native Ireland and its distinctive heritage to Munich, and to provide customers with beautifully woven fabrics in colours inspired by the natural and ever-changing rugged landscapes and windswept coastline of Ireland. The authentic welcoming ambience of O’Leary’s Irish Shop, with products of excellent craftsmanship and outstanding quality is unique to Munich.
